“Why V-Rally stopped being Need For Speed games”

Writer: Mustafa ShelbyMustafa Shelby

V-Rally is an iconic video game that made its debut back in 97 , its a video games series that many of us played it growing up and falling in love with , the great visuals , gameplay , it was surely a great experience for us back in day , but many of us remember it as “Need For Speed V-Rally” , so why its no longer called Need For Speed and it’s just V-Rally ? Or sometimes , you ask yourself “Need For Speed used to have rally games back in day , why they don’t make them anymore?” , Well its simple , because V-Rally was never a Need for Speed game

The game was made after almost two years of development by an European team that would later be known as Eden and it had two publishers , Infogrames (now known as Atari SA) And Electronic Arts (EA).

While the game was published in Europe by Infogrames , called “V-Rally” but EA decided to publish the game on North America with the name “Need For Speed V-Rally” because of marketing plans and desires , Rally sport also wasn’t as popular and beloved on America as it was in Europe so that also might have been one of their reasons aswell , it seems like they wanted to sell it by putting it in the same team as a reigining champion like Need for Speed series

The game was a crushing success commercially in Europe , selling millions of copies and most of the European reviews were excellent , however the North America reviews were mostly mediocre or bad and the game didn’t sell that well on America either

V-Rally series made a comeback to the gaming world after a 16 long years hiatus with V-Rally 4 in 2018 , its still considered as one of the series that defined the Rally genre.
