Make Madden Great Again

If you are a gamer who loves football like myself you know pretty much the whole history of the Madden football franchise. The games have surely changed since technology continued to advance with some changes being good and some not so good. I want to touch on a couple things I think could bring the franchise back to it’s former glory.
One of the biggest issues with Madden is the focus on the Ultimate Team mode. Not saying the mode itself is bad because I love the concept but it is the victim of that all too familiar trope of “pay to win”. Since that is what brings in more revenue for the publishers/developers, it has left other modes laying waste by the roadside. Career mode has become a copy and paste story mode that has no depth and is actually quite bland.
The days are gone when Madden had Hall of Fame mode and the created player customization was a lot more in depth. Over the years they removed a lot of the really fun creation modes such as create a team, create a stadium and even create a fan. This may seem small to some but it was a unique feature. I would also like to mention the removal of being able to play as historic teams. I mean who doesn’t want to play as the ’85 Bears or the ’78 Steelers?
Adding some of these modes back and putting less focus on the play to win model of Ultimate Team could go a long way in helping to bring back the dedicated fans that the franchise has lost over the years. These features could improve the gameplay significantly and give players more freedom to play their way. Maybe one day EA will take our feedback into account but I doubt it. In the meantime, we can go back and play the entries that made the franchise what it is. So please EA I am begging you, make the madden franchise great again!
