Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Reborn. A quick guide to the maps we had at launch.

Another generation, another MW2, another multiplayer, but is the multiplayer better or worse?

Does the new generation take march and leave the old generation in the dust?

So today, we will be rating the maps and what we here at Xeco are the best, and why. These ratings

will not be in any particular order and if you think I’ve got anything wrong, please feel free to share

your thoughts in our comments or even share to your friends if you agree with us.

Farm 18

Farm 18 is the classic small CoD map, a couple levels of verticality play, 1 big main building in the

middle with the map branching out from there.

The map is great for mindless running around with smg/shotguns as there are not many long sight

moments, Its face paced and overall a great feel of a

map and if I had to rate I would give it an 8/10.

Valderas Museum

I will include this option even though it has disappeared from us since the beta due to licensing

issues.

This map in my opinion was horrible, Long sight lines, a colour pallet which badly affects light

and dark play, the old dark and light play like mentioned, Its a snipers haven if you love sniping but

this map really shows the issues of MW2.

I am speaking from the beta however so things may have changed, For this map I’ll give a 4/10* but

with an asterisk as we really need to see it again for a better evaluation.

Mercado Las Almas

Probably one of the best designed maps, Classic 3 lane map with some interesting flanking options allowing people to dip between the “3 lanes”, The map is a mixture of fast paced and slow, And is a

great map for strategy/objective based game modes.

The only problem with this map is when you’re

playing hardpoint as this map can be very flash-bang heavy, however, this has to be one the best

maps, 8/10.

Breenburg Hotel

Another map we were able to play in the beta, this is your average (mostly) indoor manic map,

pllenty

of rooms to dive through.

The map is okay but is incredibly decided on who can control 2 points in

the map regardless of the game mode. It’s an okay map and it brings some needed diversity with

many levels of verticality and also many flank options. I would give it a 6/10

Taraq

Welcome to the ruined town in the desert! This is your classic core big map, The map is great for a

large map, Decent cover from the long sight lines, places you can dip in and out of easily.

The quirk of the map however, if you control the middle, You control the whole map as you can see

all around

you easily and with the fast TTK, you can drop people like flies. A solid 7/10

Crown Raceway

Blowing up a safety car, how can you not have fun in this brand new style of map that has never

been in Call Of Duty before, We merge Formula 1 and CoD together.

The map is based on the paddock/pit lane and you can even see cars going down the track, fast

paced with

the garage doors being slight open allowing you to slide between indoors and outdoors efficiently, It

is your standard 3 lane map but the map is well-thought-out with an option for anyone. I would give this an 8/10 but because you can destroy the Safety Car. 10/10.

Embassy

Critically, this map is just a Vacant clone. For those who have played older Modern Warfare games

you can easily tell the similarities. The core feel of the map is the same just with a different ascetic.

This does not mean the map is bad at all, it is a solid map and a good entry as a base. It just feels too

similar to other maps and doesn’t really feel like it has its own identity, however for game play

easily.

A solid 7/10

El Aliso

Welcome to big house Warfare. This map is mainly just about the big map in the middle, there is a

long sight fields on the left and right side but the middle is where everything is at. This map is a

campers haven.

Tight corners, places to sit and wait everywhere. This map can be heavily slow paced, It’s an okay

map but it’s very hard to push out the campers as you just get funnelled into the same places and

there isn’t many options/ways you can go.

Zarqwa Hydroelectric

Probably one of the most unique style of map, The classic 3 lane but with under water passages

through the map allowing for some insane flanking potential.

This map its great fun and is a well-rounded map on terms of verticality, open space, and cover. You

can not go wrong with this map

and easily has to be the best map available. 9/10

Al Bagra Fortress

Another map about the battle of the buildings, This is a classic 2 lane map with 2 major buildings in

the middle.

The map is okay, however is tainted heavily by spawn camping, If you hold the main building and

keep that building, you can control the whole map and not allow people to move out of their little

spawn area, It can easily lead to boring snowball games. 5/10

Santa Sena Border Crossing

One of the most controversial maps to date, not politically, but because of the amount of backlash it

has received. The whole map is full of cars in which could easily be made to explode. Once the cars

are exploded it turns into head glitch haven, however it is given more hate than its worth.

The map is fast paced and you can easily push the head glitch spots because of the cover, It takes

time to adapt

and that is the main issue, but that is a main issue of CoD as a whole. 6/10

Thank you all for reading our ratings on the Multiplayer maps. Myself, Xeco_Vol, has extensively

played the new call of duty and I do want to remind you that each person will have their own opinion.

Does yours does differ? please feel free to share. We will be updating this list as more maps get added!

Don’t forget.
