Some of you may have heard of a game called Smite and some of you may not, but in true Shakespearean fashion, lend us your ears. What is Smite?
Smite is a 3rd person, over-the-shoulder MOBA, which stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. Smite utilizes Gods and Goddess in which you can control as playable characters. Smite is not new it has been around since early 2014 but why would it be a good time to start now?
Hi-rez, creators of smite, recently introduced patch 8.11. Inside of 8.11 there were many balance changes and God changes, everyone inside the game will be adapting to these changes so it creates a good stepping stone. As well as that, there is now a lead-up to the Smite World Championships. In the time between now and then, we have a really big tournament called Finchmas. Finchmas is where Smite Pros and the general Smite community battle it out to win out on top inside the main game mode Conquest. Like all things, watching other players, creators, or even pro players can increase your knowledge in the game which can be a key asset to help your learning curve.

Why should you play Smite?
As someone who has put many hours into Smite, I can say Smite is very fun. I myself have played Smite since day one and I still play this game. You have an arsenal of game modes, Gods, Items, Abilities which you can use. There is always something to find and love about Smite. Maybe it is just falling in love with the beautiful Goddess Aphrodite or maybe the smart calm and calculated Goddess of intelligence Athena. Smite also has a role base system that could allow certain gods to suit your playstyle better than others. Finding your favourite role and most successful role is always so satisfying.
Where could you find Smite?
Hi-rez used to have their own launcher for Smite which I do believe still works for those who have the launcher still. You cannot access a download file for the launcher anymore but it is a nice little heritage thing. Moving on, you can find Smite on: Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Store, and lastly, Steam. Smite is fully crossplay and free to everyone that wants to play it.
Would I recommend Smite to someone and what is my experience with Smite?

I would 100% recommend Smite to everyone, however, I will say though my experiences that Smite is rough without a friend. I would like to say I am sophisticated when it comes to all aspects to Smite. I have hit very high ranks and also been in Tournaments. My lowest point of smite though, was when I was solo and didn’t play with anyone. I was lucky that my friend got me into Smite when I was young so I was addicted, solo or not. The problem is Smite can be ruthless unless you have a friend. Each game is different inside of Smite and sometimes it can really just tick you off. Really slow-paced games where you feel like a slug could move faster or games in which you get stomped into the ground so quickly you have no chance to say “apple crumble”. With a friend, it really helps just keep that morale up, and also everything is better with a friend! Like all games though, there are also toxic players who will hate on you for being new. Smite has a really big learning curve which is satisfying as you will always make progress, but people can be awful. If they are, there is a good report-based system and mute options to help.
To Conclude
Smite is amazing. I have loved Smite from day one. Hi-Rez is an amazing company and the community is so great. They are professional and at the same time fun. Hi-Rez has done many good fun events and even just watching them is enough of a reason to get into Smite (In my humble opinion). I do believe you reading this right now will have fun. There are just so many aspects of Smite and some of which I haven’t even covered! So, grab your friends, a beer (if legal), and buckle up. Do you have what it takes to be the God of the Arena and slaughter your enemies? Best go find out!
Many thanks, everyone,
Reece,
