How to get free Xbox game pass

Amongst other rewards as well

by Tyler Spring on February 11, 2022

I've come to notice recently that almost anytime I bring up the Xbox rewards program I am met with confusion, so instead of writing out an essay explaining it every time I'm asked I decided I would write this.

Let me start off by saying for every year I have been subscribed to Xbox game pass one third to half of my time using the service has been free, yes you read that right, totally free. The reason being is I utilize the rewards program to the fullest and today I'll be telling you how to do so.

The first thing you need to do is go to the Xbox store, go to the search bar and type in “Microsoft Rewards” it should appear as an app with a photo of a gold medal, download it and then open it if it's your first time you will have to sign up which is a very simple and painless process. Once signed up you will be presented with a list of tasks that change on a weekly basis, most of which are very simple menial tasks such as signing into the rewards program a certain amount of days in a week, getting achievements in a specific game, or searching using bing a certain number of times a week as well as other similar challenges. For example, as I write this there are over 3425 points available to gain and that's not including Xbox game pass quests (more on that down below) or any rewards that require the purchase of something else (like 1000 points for every 10$ spent in the store etc) Every month there are 4 weekly challenges, periodic monthly challenges as well as daily challenges. When you complete these challenges you will be rewarded with points that can be used to redeem various awards such as free Xbox game pass, Microsoft store credit, various gift cards, etc.

Some challenges give you more points than others but the best way to accumulate them is to keep your weekly streak going. When you complete a weekly it adds to how much you will get for your next weekly, meaning the longer you go without stopping the faster you will get points and in turn, the faster you will receive rewards.

Another nice thing about this point system is it's also tied to Bing rewards as well as Xbox game pass quests. If you go look in Xbox game pass tab or play a game pass game you may notice notifications for daily, weekly and monthly quests. When you complete these quests they also add to your rewards points total meaning you are literally working towards free game pass by playing game pass, which is just another example of why Xbox is the most consumer-friendly gaming company around.
