Halo was originally going to be a Mac exclusive then Microsoft changed everything.

Halo is no stranger to the gamers around the world , its considered one of the most iconic games of all time and one of the games that redefined the FPS and Online Multiplayer games , helping both Xbox and the genre itself to reach some great heights , Halo was and always have been one of the reasons people bought Xbox consoles , but today we are going to take a look at the past and see how one smart move from Microsoft changed Xbox and their place in the video games forever

Let’s get back to 20 years ago , Bungie is developing a video game that has potential to change the genre and industry , that game is called Halo and its a Mac exclusive , yes you heard right , Halo was originally a Mac exclusive , Steve Jobs wanted to bring Halo to Mac to make the platform a preferred “gaming” system and open doors to more games in the future , during the 1999 Macworld expo , Steve Jobs revealed Halo to the world

“We are starting to see some great games come back to the Mac , but this is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen. This game is going to ship early next year from Bungie, and this is the first time anybody has ever seen it , said Steve Jobs”

Just one year later Microsoft purchased the Bungie , cancelled the Mac port and made it an exclusive launch title to their newly designed powerful console , the Xbox

This action remains as one of the smartest moves Microsoft have ever done , the Halo franchise has sold 70 million copies worldwide , making it one of the best selling games of all time and a reason gamers buying Xbox consoles throughout the generations
