XECOs Russian Guy Interviews a developer of Erra: Exordium a game by Fair Pixel
Greetings to The Xbox Ecosystem community (XECO)! I have been developing our group on Twitter since December. I try to make interesting and informative content. Such content is indie games! Nowadays, indie games are becoming almost the saviors of the gaming industry... after all, now there is a dominance of multiplayer games and games of the new genre "Battle Royale". Today I would like to tell you about an indie game from Fair Pixel studio. This game is called Erra: Exordium!Erra: Exordium is a 2D action adventure in the Dieselpunk setting. Explore a world based on Sumerian-Akkadian mythology.

Take on the role of a scientist who managed to cheat death and fight the rebellious army of mechatrons. Developers from the Fair Pixel studio gave a short interview to our community. I hope you enjoy it and you will support the guys by adding their game to the Steam wish list.
XECO: How long has your studio been established?
Fair Pixel: Our studio is actually three years old.
XECO: The official website states that there are only 5 people on the team. Is there anyone else who helps you, but is not part of the development team?
Fair Pixel: Now we have 4 people working in the office and 3 on the remote (two animators and one composer).
XECO: Why was the Unity game engine chosen?
Fair Pixel: Unity was chosen primarily because of the direction of 2D and pixel art. In addition, one of our programmers had little experience with this engine. It made our work a little easier.
XECO: You were going to go to the Kickstarter site, but I didn't find the game page there. Can you tell us more?
Fair Pixel: The following happened to the Kickstarter. Firstly, we are faced with legal problems, such as registering a person who will help us get on the site. Secondly, we felt that due to insufficient information noise about the game, we would not be able to gain an audience to fully fund ourselves.
XECO: The release is planned for PC and consoles. Which consoles will the game be released on?
Fair Pixel: Yes, the release is planned for the Console and PC, right. We will go to the PC first, because we want to polish the game, catch enough bugs, make it decent. Immediately after the release on PC, we will prepare it for release on PS4 and 5 consoles, Xbox One and Series. And of course the Nintendo Switch.
XECO: Based on the last question, I want to continue the topic of consoles.
XECO: Is a simultaneous release planned on PC and consoles, or will the console versions have to wait?
Fair Pixel: Console versions will still have to wait.
XECO: Now there is a wonderful service on Xbox: Xbox Game Pass. It gives a good opportunity to gain popularity and gather a player base for indie developers. What do you think about it and are you planning to release the game in this subscription?
Fair Pixel: Xbox Game Pass is undoubtedly a great service and, at the moment, we are working in this direction. I can't say more.
XECO: Basically indie developers are trying to release their game only on PC and specifically only on Steam. How did you come to the decision to release the game on the console as well?
Fair Pixel: We want to make a product that we would like to play everywhere. Most of our developers are PC players, but there are also console ones. In the end, different points of view and the desire to bring our game to as many players as possible is what we strive for.
XECO: Have you encountered difficulties while developing the game?
Fair Pixel: There are actually a lot of difficulties. Even so, you can't immediately distinguish. Frame-by-frame animations are our gift and curse, perhaps. Yes. Since all our animations are made frame-by-frame manually, as in classic animation, we have to dock them with each other in different states. Of course, it's worth mentioning the complexity of balancing the game, so as not to make overpowered weapons and not make super-light opponents in the later stages. The complexity curve has become a whole science for us.
XECO: How much percent is the game ready? Or at what stage is the development?
Fair Pixel: The game is 70 percent ready. There were moments of polishing and honing. Here and there, we add all sorts of narrative design elements to the level. The main Core is already ready.
XECO: Are there any special or interesting mechanics in the game?
Fair Pixel: We made a very good combat system and it came out almost exactly as we intended. Not completely arcade, but also not complicated Souls-like, as they are used to doing now. We think that the pace of the game is our feature.
XECO: Are there any interesting facts about the game or perhaps new details about the development that has not yet been published?
Fair Pixel: Programming a Boss with frame-by-frame animation is the worst thing imaginable:
XECO: Can you name the top 3 games that you personally like?
Fair Pixel: Our team likes a very huge number of different games (from Rayman to the first Thief with Deus Ex). For me personally, games that are complex solutions where the game balance is maintained (plot, level design, and gameplay) are valuable. I would like to highlight a huge number of games, but offhand, it's God of War (2018), Witcher 3, Jedi Academy.
XECO: Thanks for the interview! We wish you good luck with the development and most importantly achieve the desired results! Interviewer: Russian Guy!
