Epic LLama Interview on Unusual findings.

Welcome to the XECO website! I'm XECOs Russian Guy and this time I interviewed the guys from Epic Llama Games studio! This studio is located in sunny Argentina… Although I've never been there and I'm not sure about it. Now the studio is developing an Unusual Finding game in the point-and-click adventure genre. The game is being developed for PC (Steam) and consoles! Already now you can download a demo of the game on Steam and get to know the game better. The release of the game itself is already this month, namely on October 13! Although Epic Llama Games studio is an indie studio, the guys have found a publisher. ESDigital Games (Buka Entertainment) will be the publisher of the game on PC and consoles!

Description:

It’s the 80s and the Christmas is coming, Vinny, Nick, and Tony are young and their new cable signal descrambler just arrived. That same night while trying to decrypt a pay-per-view adult channel, they pick up the distress signal of an alien spaceship crash-landing in the woods near their town… Things only get weirder as they realize that the towering alien is killing particular members of their community!

  1. XECO: How long has your studio been established?

Epic LLama: We have been doing games since... 2008 so... we have some 14 years of making games if my math is not wrong... (it could be)

  1. XECO: It says on the Internet that you have been making browser games for 10 years. Have you done them already as a studio or just as a team?

Epic LLama: We started very humbly making games for browsers... Oh... flash ... why did you have to die, you were such a fun, quick tool to do stuff! anyways... we evolved as a team and studio during our flash years.

  1. XECO: Unusual Findings, is this your first serious game?

Epic LLama: I'm not sure what you mean by serious game... But something I can tell you, Unusual Findings, probably has a more "serious" tone than for instance Darkestville Castle, Darkestville Castle is a more... Cartoony game... where Unusual Findings is more in tone with a teenage coming-of-age movie with sci-fi and horrors elements on it... Of course, it has comedy in it. and light-hearted moments but... it's not a comedy, yet It's lighthearted but with dark moments.

  1. XECO: Why did you choose the genre of your game "Quest"?

Epic LLama: I'm not 100% sure what you mean by this :D ! we decided to make a point-and-click game, because we love the genre a lot, and we understand it... we want to make this genre evolve forward, so we added some cool innovative mechanics (like for instance a three-man party but you only manage one guy... and at the same time it has some moral system that changes puzzles, interactions, the final chapter, and the endings) with some classics elements, like the three action token system. (Grab, See, Talk)

  1. XECO: What engine are you using to make the game? UE4 or Unity?

Epic LLama: It's made on Unity

  1. XECO: Your game was released on Kickstarter and the campaign ended successfully. How satisfied are you with this result and the support you received from the players?

Epic LLama: A lot, we receive a lot of support and love from the gaming community so we are super happy and really looking forward to seeing the reactions of the people that supported us when they play the game!

  1. XECO: What interesting and special mechanics are there in your game?

Epic LLama: Well you have a three-man party but you only manage Vinny so dialogs are pretty fluid, it's not a constant monolog, since the kids talk between them, also since you manage just one of them... if someone can help you don't have to switch between characters to look for the right combination, at the same time there is a moral system that unlocks different puzzles and endings depending on how you interact between the kids, so you can play it and replay the game and it will change... that's cool. Also, the game has pretty inventive minigames to solve (within the logic of a point-and-click game)

Also cool. The game features really cool music... real 80s music... In-game you can listen You spin me round (like a record) from Synth-pop Kings Dead or Alive... along with custom-made music from LATIN Grammy Nominee Tomas Ferrero.

  1. XECO: The release is planned for PC and consoles. Will it be a simultaneous release or will the console versions be released later?

Epic LLama: It should be simultaneous.

  1. XECO: Are you already planning the next project or are you entirely focused on the release of the game Unusual Findings?

Epic LLama: Focusing our energy on the final line.

  1. XECO: Name 3 of your favorite games?

Epic LLama: Aw... This one is pretty hard. We like so many games... but... let's pick today... Monkey Island 3, Zelda a link to the past, and Solomon's Key 2 for Famicom

  1. XECO: Say a few words to our subscribers!

Epic LLama: Hey thanks for reading so far... and If you like 80s Sci-fi, a story about growing up, friendship, and facing the unknown... while exploring a town full of mysteries and solving puzzles in a game where your choices do matter... then you should give it a try to Unusual Findings

The guys have done a great job and are already moving towards the finish line. On behalf of our XECO team, we would like to congratulate Epic LLama Studio on such an event and wish them a successful release of their game! The game can already be pre-ordered on PC and consoles, or wait and buy the game on the day of release on October 13!
