COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT – Reviving Wrecking Zone

Writer: Ashley Stuart-BorthwickAshley Stuart-Borthwick

In these small spotlight articles I will be focusing on things from the Xbox community!

Don't you just hate it when A game has multiplayer but it takes forever to get a game because hardly anyone plays it anymore? I know I do, especially when I'm trying to grab those last couple of achievements that are unfortunately linked to progress in Xbox Live gameplay!

Released in February 2019 Crackdown returned to Xbox with its third instalment. After many, many delays and broken promises the game was mainly met with unwarranted criticism (as it is actually a really fun game) and it's multiplayer mode “Wrecking Zone” quickly dwindled in player numbers to the point where you can use the word “dead” as the correct adjective.

Wrecking Zone was a brand new addition to the series and contained competitive, team based multiplayer modes that included extremely destructible environments. It's fast paced, action packed and insanely fun..... if you can find a game!

But wait, Turn that frown upside down.

There are a small number of players who are still actively trying to keep Wrecking Zone alive, and as someone who has participated in a whole host of the gaming sessions with them I have to say its well worth taking part!

There is a club set up by Xbox user BouffantLizard8 called “WreckingUp” which has the sole purpose of organising games of Wrecking Up as well as Co-Op games on Crackdown. As a member of this club I have made some fantastic Xbox friends from all over the world and I have also been able to join in multiple gaming evenings full of Agent killing madness. They have organised smaller session all the way up to full lobbies and all are welcome!

If your looking to just have fun, or want to work towards the selection of achievements the multiplayer has to offer then all you have to do is join the group and ask!

I highly doubt Xbox or Sumo Digital will ever actually update the multiplayer to include some extremely needed bots to fill out the teams, but until they do we can keep taking part in these community events to try and preserve the online communities for these games!

The wrecking up club can be found on the Xbox dashboard with a quick search!
